Types of Cheese (part 1)
Vietnamese often call different kinds of cheese with only word “pho mat”. Cheese is derived from the West, made from milk with lots of protein and fat. In fact, there are hundreds of different kinds of cheese in the world. Cheese is used very common as an indispensable ingredient in many Western dishes.
Cheese can be made from the milk of animals such as cows, goats, sheep, … Each has a unique flavor due to the raw materials and different ways of processing.
It is abbreviated from Parmigiano-Reggiano. It is the most typical type of cheese in pasta dishes. Parmesan cheese is hard, made from cow’s milk and it takes a minimum of 1 year, usually 2 to 3 years to reach the perfect cheese for use.
Parmesan can be eaten immediately or used for cooking. It is usually shredded, sliced or cut into small pieces.
This famous cheese originates from the village of Cheddar in Somerset region of England. It is hard cheese from cow’s milk, its taste is from mild to strong (intense), its color is from natural white to light orange. It is the cheese with the most consumption in the world.
After combining milk with renin, the volume of coagulated milk is formed, then it is cut and cheddarize (salted and crushed) and created a desired shape.
This type of cheese originates from Italy, in the category of cream cheese – cheese derived from cow’s milk. In fresh, mozzarella is quite soft, with colors from white to yellowish, easy to melt down and blend into other food ingredients. With the characteristically delicious taste, this type of cheese is always the first choice to be served with pizza.
